Comment from Julio Davila,"Looking forward to seeing
you soon , I will be playing in Birmingham, AL,
and then I am playing in the British Masters in
Manchester, England with Ricci, Mark David, and Herm,
then I will see you in Italia. Hasta luego mi hermano."
Comment from Ruben Britt [Puerto Rico 60], "I'm looking
forward to playing in Jacksonville in October. After playing
against your team [Victory], the owner of the Puerto Rico
team was talking about hosting a Masters Basketball
Tournament in PR.  I would love to play there, or any
other place on the east coast before October."
Comment from Willie "Dynamite" Stroman [Harlem, USA],
"Yo, What up LAHH? I am ok getting ready for Senior 3
on 3 [Nationals] next week in Birmingham, Alabama.
My teammates were great for inviting me to play, without
knowing me, or my game. Everyone gave what they could
in an effort to win. I found the competition to be very good
for sixty. Looking to playing with you. Peace"

 Carl Jordan aka "CJ"
2017 MBA 55+ M.V.P.
Comment by Jim Sweeney,"*Indy All-Stars repeat
as Champs in 55+ *Led by MVP Carl "CJ" Jordan
*5 players on the squad will represent the USA in
Italy this summer at the FIMBA World Championships...
They are Carl Jordan, James Nut Adams, Randall
Diggins, Jerome Bridges and Jim Sweeney"

Comment by Larry Combs [Bedford 55] "The game of the
tourney was the 55 game against Indy.  A game that was
packed, and went into overtime.  Indy won in a thriller,
we were down 3 with 6 seconds left, after Indy made
a free throw with no time outs the ball was inbound to
me  I thought they would foul but someone watching
the game said they couldn't catch me. I pushed it up
the and was going to pull up and got the  3 but Nut
picked me up, and I saw Leroy Casanova out of my
left eye gave him a nice dime in his shooting pocket,
and he knocked it down with one second left, gym
went crazy. CJ  from Indy said to me that Calvin Smith,
and myself were a back court to be reckoned with
because of our ability to apply ball pressure,
and the way I can score . Great tournament and Lord
willing I'll be there next year, have to defend my
skills title, and win the 3 pt shooting contest,  I was
one shot away from making it to finals . I'm  already
back in the gym working hard putting in work
to reach those goals. Stay blessed and have a
blessed day! Legend!"

Comment by Ian Mahoney, "I decided to move up to the
55 Div and played for Athletics Unlimited for the first time.
We made it to the finals, and lost to a very talented Indy
All-Stars team . I was impressed by the teams unselfishness,
and great chemistry, when I was asked to play with them
last year. We are planning on playing in Utah In October,
and adding a few new players that will help us next year
in Coral Springs. Coral Springs is obviously the most
renown, and recognized tournament. I have yet to win
there. My quest for a 1st place finish continues."

Comment by Ron Knecht, [Bedford 55] "Hi
Lahh! Thanks, all is good so far. I'm on the plane
to Detroit Masters currently, about to take off.
Then Sunday on to Birmingham, for the 3
on 3 Nationals. My quick feedback for

Coral Springs: We were a bit short-handed,
but came up with an epic semi-final game
against the eventual 55+ winner Indiana.
Lost in overtime, but earned respect. Coral
Springs has better teams, and more teams
in all age groups. The tournament is
       evolving.  Most memorable moment was
Rick Pitino, who we played in the first game."

  1. I agree with your ranking. I have played in 6 of the 10 this year , including the top 4 , and your ranking seems pretty accurate.

  2. I have played in 7 of the 10 tourneys. I would move showdowninnaptown to #5 and Jacksonville to #6, Windy City to #7. 3on3 tourneys are like kissing your sister for true Masters players. The PAC-NW tourney i was scheduled play in. This was their first year. Didnt have enough 50 snd 55 teams sign up. Rumor has it they had to combined age groups to compete.

    1. The Masters tournaments can be very competitive, however, sometimes the categories of play are [1] Recreational and [2] Open/Competitive...Meaning...
As serious as it gets for your age group. You can usually contact the event
promoters and they may assist you in finding a club to participate with.
Prepare the best you can. Run. Stretch. Shoot around on your own or
with some younger players and when you get to the Masters event, have
a good time. Know your limitations and get your hoop on!
