Tournament Updates June '09
-MAY 2009 NYDLBALL.com 3x3 Event

Here are the established results of the 2009 NYDLBALL.com 3x3 Event that was held at Baruch College aka as the Malcom X 3x3. We were off to a rocky start partly as a result of new staffing combinations and two missing teams, Marcia's Boys and The Original...Yes the Original Mean Machine Productions. Blessings and thanks to all who participated, including Rafeal Figueoa, Avery Watkins, Dave Batalion, Brian Seals, Lewis Michaux, Mr. Re and Tony Greene. Much Love to Sister Zakia, Chip Adams, Gil Alvarez...Holly, Nicky, Jay, Yahh, Ele, Warren, Renny and Reggie Magwood Jr.. The staff at Baruch College were great! The registered teams drew for bracket position and the competitive 2009 field was established as follows:

The defending NYDLBALL 3x3 2008 Champions, TAVERN on the GREEN with the shooter, Josua "Kobe" Grassals, drew a match-up with former NYDLBALL 3x3 Champions CONQUERORS SPORTS CLUB aka "The Seals Connection" out of Flatubush, NY. NU-ELEMENT Productions led by the infamous and mysterious "Mr. Re" drew a strong competitor with a contest against the crafty and deceptive HARLEM WORLD led by Lew "Ice-Man" Michaux.

The sharp-shooting quartet known as THE YESHEVA BALLERS, led by Dave Batalion aka the Steve Nash of the Skills Challenge, drew a contest against the veteran hoopsters from the 1970's know as FAT GOLD CHAIN led by Lo Holloman.

WATKINS ENTERPRISE, who travelled from Camden/Philly to be with us drew the bye for the first round and were led by their fearless leader, non-other than "The Mayor of Camden, NJ" Avery Watkins.

NU-ELEMENT vs HARLEM WORLD- NU-ELEMENT hits the accelerator and their jump-shots to defeat HARLEM WORLD 21-9. Early in the contest HARLEM WORLD missed several open shot opportunities and attempted to rally late in the game. NU-ELEMENT spread the floor and the score-book with a balanced scoring attack with Diaz, Constant, Miley and Mr. Re contributing to the "W".

YESHEVA BALLERS vs FAT GOLD CHAIN...THE YESHEVA BALLERS struck early and often hitting outside shots and the open man...forcing FAT GOLD CHAIN to re-group and attempt a come from behind victory. FAT GOLD CHAIN countered with isolation plays for Lo "Renny" Holloman and Warren "Walt Clyde" Storey. YESHEVA closed this one out on buckets by the Batalion Brothers and Zev Boogie, winning by the score of 21-13.

TAVERN beats NU-ELEMENT in a contest reflectve of New York Hotel Basketball league play. NU-ELEMENT plays for the Roosevelt Hotel in that other league and TAVERN...well they are the 2009 NEW YORK HOTEL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS and will be traveling to the Dominican Republic in a few weeks to celebrate that victory...Back to the game...This game was marked with several lead changes, tough defense and last moment heroics by Josh, Joey and Angel...Tavern gets another "W" as they win 21-19 in a Barn-Burner!

ENTERPRISE defeats YESHEVA BALLERS 21-19 on game ending clutch free-throws by Keith Jones aka King Jones

YESHEVA BALLERS defeat CONQUERORS SPORTS CLUB 21-10

ENTERISE defeats TAVERN ON THE GREEN 21-13
