Rules for NYDLBALL 3X3 Competition

The following are the 13 general rule guidelines for NYDLBALL 3 X 3 Basketball and have been in competitive use since June 1996.

1. A coin toss decides the 1st possession of the game.

2. 3 players should be on the court for each team, with one substitute on the bench. However, if 2 roster players are present a game can be played.

3. Alternate possessions after each scored basket.

4. Game point is identified prior to start of game [5, 11, 16, 21, or 30]

5. A 2 point shot is scored as 2 points, and a 3 point shot is 3 points [Unless, otherwise informed prior to the game.]

6. Teams will be in the foul penalty bonus after the 3rd personal foul.

7. No fouling out. No loitering in the 3 seconds zone, under the basket.

8. After a shooting foul, if both free-throws are missed by a player, the free-throw shooting team retains possession.

9. All players must be properly attired (shorts, NYDLBALL 3X3 Jersey & sneakers)

10. [Knucklehead Clause] Players must have the proper social attitude, maturity & respect, to participate in NYDLBALL 3x3 competition, and must be of sound body & mind.

11. Use of profanity, vulgar jesters, fighting or unsportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated.

12. Trophies, Awards, and Game Gear are usually presented on the tournament site at the end of the event. [Unless otherwise stated prior to the event]

13. Do your thing, Have fun, Express yourself, Have a triple-double, Have a double- double, Make the play, Shoot the shot, Respect the call, Respect yourself, and Respect will be given to you.
