On a daily basis, the sports pages of the US read like the bold typographical print of the police blotter. Assaults. Drugs. Murder. Arrest. Shootings. Domestic violence. Kidnapping. Trunk full of guns...and a gallon of booze on their lap. Attempted Suicides. Stick-Ups. Rapes. Drugs abuse and mandatory testing. DWIs. Gang rumbles televised nationally, disguised as a college football game. Vicious Head -Butts at the World Cup. Murder for hire. Paternity suites. Child support delinquency. This is not the National Inquirer...This are your hometown sports pages! The recent assaults and gun-play involving college players [Let's not forget that NCAA Lacrosse team] and professional athletes are not surprising anymore. [The NBA has more than their fair share of drama] Look at our society. We are at war, and have been for some time. When will we be free from violence? The sports we play and watch are violent and aggressive.. Football, Wrestling, Boxing, Hockey, Kick Boxing, Soccer...It's common to hear "Kill the Umpire!" at a Baseball game.
