The question of the day is,"Is Trash Talking Part of the Game or Should it be Penalized on the court?" The sweet, subtle art of trash talking is part of the game, it's not going anywhere. It should be done with humor and should not be taken seriously or taken to heart. I've witnessed and heard some seriously offensive language on the court [Let's just forget about what the Fans are saying!] I've seen good players distracted from game focus by responding to trash and I've seen games swung and hung in the balance as a result of it. I've seen calm reserved players turn red faced, with a crazed look in their eyes, as they unnecessarily fouled out of a close contest because they lost their composure [See 2006 World Cup Finals] A word about the REFS..They are not as appreciative of your TTC [Trash Talkin' Creativity] They could care less if you two know each other or if he or she is your peoples, your if you are just having a little "fun." They have to manage and conduct a safe game for all and you will be penalized if it continues! With tryouts less than a week away, the trash talking has reached a fever pitch. My advice if you can use it to your advantage, do your thing, have fun. If you have been working out all summer and fall getting ready for the season; you're in great game shape; the jumper in on and clicking: your footwork and "D" is proper and poppin'; YOU won't need to TRASH TALK, because your performance will do the talking for you!!!
