Congrats to Watkins Enterprises of Philadelphia, Pa who were crowned The 2006 Coach White Classic Champions! The action packed weekend tournament was held in Virgina Beach as Watkins edged out a competitive Smarthouse Legends Team in 59-58 in Overtime. This game could have gone either way and the three-man officials team, at times, needed a fourth. Ballas from DC, Philly, Maryland, Virginia entertained the fans with aerial assaults on the rim and superb outside shooting. Great, athletic and experienced, teams ran the floor and lit-up the scoreboard!...Teams such as Oxen Hill, Pure Game, The Quiet Storm, James River Exterior, Tidewater C.C. and Dynasty battled for this weekend's elusive crown!
The question of the day is,"Do we Really Have to Curse so Much?" I've been in allot of parks and a whole lot of gyms over the years and it seem like the profanity of the players, fans and coaches have reached an all-time low! Hey call it what you want, "locker-room talk", "it's just the heat of the moment", or whatever...It's really gotten ugly!! It's gotten to the point where I would hesitate to bring a young child to a community basketball game, because of the cursing and the possibilty of violence. I've been embarrassed by the behavior and comments of teammates and players "showing out" in front of invited families, women and children. I have to also add, that some of the fans at these games [male & female] are "Off the Chain" also!! Can we clean-up our act? How about some respect for the children? What about some respect for the women in the stands? And where is the respect for ourselves? "Do we Really Have to Curse so Much and do we need law enforcement present at local games?
