Good Morning,

Peace and Blessings from Lahh Woods at NYDLBALL.com RADIO.  This is Day Twelve at Camp Concrete "Where Basic Fundamentals meet the Will to Compete"...6:33 AM EST.  We are once again coming to you Live via all things good and with the blessings of the Creator I pray that our steps, words, and actions be ordered in a Positive way...All Day!  The question of the day is,"Are the European basketball players as good as they say they are?" (1) True: They are fundamentally sound, (2)True: They have big men who can nail the jumper. (3)True: They have beaten NBA All-Star Teams in the Olympics & FIBA World Competition.  (4) False: They have caught up and are better than American players!

Here's my point, (1) Yes they have beaten NBA All-STAR Teams... That's All-Stars [and the little publicized "L" that Philly caught over there a few weeks ago]...European Teams are not beating established, play-off contender, NBA franchises. (2) Their big men can stick the open jumper & they pass well, but are lacking in shot blocking mobility, lacking in aggressive play, minimal athletic ability, lacking in foot speed and sometimes they have a tendency to play without HEART [I'm not sure if you can teach that]  (3) Yes they have beaten NBA All-Stars, however they were playing by International Rules...Yes it's basketball but it's a style of basketball that American players do not play often enough to have a command of the international style of play. [This accounts for at least a 10-16 point European advantage] (4) They have not caught up yet, and they may never "catch-up" to the Americans...Americans in the league/mostly African Americans/ are more athletic and creative than the Europeans...Americans run faster, jump higher, can play with more intensity and do things with the ball that sometimes defy gravity and the basic rules of play aka Creativity.  Europeans have good "International Rule Teams," their individual players who come over have to adjust to American NBA style of play and "most" do not consistently produce on that level...Especially under the very bright lights of the NBA Playoffs! Let us look at Dirk...He can give you 30 or 35 a night, right? Ever notice how many points the man he is guarding gets as Dirk slowly, casually, trails the play? So if Dirk's defensive assignment gets 30 [sometimes more] arguably Dirk is producing +0 to +5 points a game. Are you still impressed?  What do you think? Have the Europeans really "caught-up" or are we "caught-up" in the International Marketing Hype of the NBA and FIBA?
