Smelborp and the 15 Park Ballers are the two undefeated teams is the 2007 Malcolm X 3x3 Tournament. A sunny morning and The International Food Festival on 9 Ave was the setting, [The food was great and the traffic was horrendous] Graphics HS Park was the place. Brandon "Baby Billips" Smith took the four foot trophy home in the 3 Ball contest with [13] 3-pointers in 60 seconds! After a few warm-up 3x3 games the official competition began, with Rolling Thunder [Queens, NY-Lorens/Levin/Buchanan] defeating Marcia's Boys [Bronx/Man/Qns-Soman/Barrett/Clarke] by the score of [30-25]. Was it really caused by Rolling Thunder or was it just a coincidence that by games end a few clouds began to accumulate in the area.
Int w/ Wilson Booga Lew & Brandon "Billips" Smith The Free-Throw Contest was won by default!! Tim Barrett, from Marcia's Boys sets a NYDLBALL.com Record by converting 5 out of 10 Free-Throws for the 2007 crown. This record should remain on the books forever...For an all-time low performance! Tim edged out Milton "Mr RE" from Nu Element Productions in the final. We heard every possible excuse for the poor shooting percentage, "Too much sun" "Too many clouds" "Too much wind in the air" and the best yet, "There was an uncontrollable outbreak of Shaq's disease!" In game 2, Smelborp [Problems spelled backwards] sent Nu Element Productions [Bronx/Bklyn/Qns-Butts/Martin/Miley] to the Loser Bracket by the score of [30-22]. Smelborp [Lew/Hoover/Legrand] is the largest team in the competition and will be a challenge for everyone they face, boasting a front line of 6'6" & 6'5"!! The 15 Park Ballers [Qns/NJ-Allen/Smith/Woods] edged out Rolling Thunder in a come from behind victory, as the rain began to pour down [31-28].
5 Teams Match up Int w/ Pistol Pete Lorens In game 3 play Marcia's Boys eliminated Nu Element Productions [30-21] and is will face Rolling Thunder in the next critical round of competition. At this point the competition was rained out and will continue on Sunday June 3, 2007 at 3:15 PM [Same Hoop Channel/Same Hoop Location]
